For today’s blog post, I want to spotlight a terrific non-profit organization based out my hometown of Las Vegas: Project 150. Project 150’s mission is to offer support and services to homeless high school students in the Las Vegas area so they can stay in school through graduation and learn the life skills necessary to be successful. The organization provides students with school supplies, clothes, personal hygiene items, scholarships, and more.
Project 150 started in 2011 after the founders, Don Purdue and Patrick Spargur, became aware of 150 homeless high school students attending Rancho High School. The first fundraising event helped to fund 3 truckload of supplies for 17 homeless families. Since then, Project 150 has turned into a star organization in the Las Vegas valley helping thousands of homeless youth.
However, the homeless youth problem is not going away. There are still 9,300 homeless students in Las Vegas. I only wish I had known about Project 150 sooner! The founders, Don and Patrick, both went to the same high school as me — Clark. Clark High School itself is in a poor area of Las Vegas and home to many homeless students. I hope we can collaborate on many future projects together to help Las Vegas high school students!
You can donate to Project 150 HERE. 100% of your financial donation goes towards helping homeless high school students.
