The secret to winning scholarships is to apply for local scholarships only offered to students in your state, city, or community. This significantly reduces the applicant pool and increases your chances of winning exponentially. I personally won 20 scholarships that totaled a quarter million dollars my senior year in high school. 19 of the 20 scholarships that I won were local scholarships. Here are 3 Las Vegas scholarships every student must apply for:

(1) NV Energy Powerful Partnership Scholarship
Deadline – March
Overview – NV Energy awards $1,000 scholarships to students in the Las Vegas area.
Eligibility Criteria

  • High School Senior Attending School in NV Energy Service Area
  • Completed 20 Hours of Community Service In the Past Year
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Application Criteria

  • 100-300 Word Essay About Why Community Service is Important
  • Resume of Community Service, Work Experience, School Activities
  • High School Transcript
  • Letter of Recommendation

(2) Ronald McDonald House Charities  of Greater Las Vegas Scholarship
Deadline – January
Overview – RMHC of Greater Las Vegas has awards $500 – $5000 scholarships to local students.
Eligibility Criteria

  • High School Senior Attending School in Clark County
  • Minimum 2.7 GPA

Application Criteria

  • Test Scores (SAT or ACT)
  • High School Transcript
  • Personal Statement/Essay
  • Letter of Recommendation

(3) 2400 Expert SAT Excellence Scholarship
Deadline – February
Overview – 2400 Expert awards $500 scholarships to local Las Vegas students.
Eligibility Criteria

  • High School Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors Attending School in Las Vegas
  • SAT score of 2000 or higher

Application Criteria

  • Test Scores (SAT or ACT)
  • High School Transcript
  • Personal Statement/Essay
