Dr. Shaan Patel, MD, MBA is the Founder & CEO of Prep Expert, winner of a Shark Tank investment deal with billionaire Mark Cuban, a bestselling author, received his MD/MBA from Yale and USC, and a board-certified dermatologist physician. Dr. Patel raised his own SAT score 640 points from average to perfect when he was in high school. He has now developed SAT & ACT prep curriculum and courses that have helped over 100,000 students improve their own scores, get into top universities, and win over $100 million in college scholarships!

Miguel Chavira attended UT Austin, where he earned a BS in Computer Science and a BA English as well as a TEFL Certificate. Miguel has accumulated five years of tutoring experience across a number of organizations, giving him insight into a wide variety of strategies and advice. He can tutor any of the following subjects: ACT, SAT, PSAT, (undergraduate & AP) Computer Science, (AP) Biology, AP Calculus (A, B, C), (AP) Macro & Micro Economics, (AP) English (Language & Literature), ESL, any high school math, (AP) Physics, Spanish 1 & 2, AP Statistics, and essay writing & composition. Isabella scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT, ACT, and PSAT, among other standardized tests. She has worked as an instructor with Prep Expert for over a year and is currently completing her MBA at UT Dallas. As a first-generation student in the US, she understands the unique challenges multicultural students face academically and is committed to providing creative, achievement-oriented instruction so her students can unlock their full academic potential. Nirmal Karthik is attending Georgia Tech and pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering. He graduated from his B.S. in Computer Engineering with a perfect GPA, 2 years early due to credit earned from scoring a 5 on 16 AP exams and taking 27 credits of dual enrollment. Nirmal scored a 1560 on the SAT and is a National Merit Scholar in addition to being an Eagle Scout and valedictorian of his class. Through his five years of both voluntary and paid tutoring experience, Nirmal has developed a passion for helping students reach their full academic potential and emphasizes an approach focused on helping each student develop an intuition for the subject matter rather than simply memorizing it. In his free time, Nirmal enjoys biking, camping, and skydiving. He is generally available on weeknights and is located in Eastern Time.

Shefali Sanwal is attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison, majoring in Computer Science and Data Science. She scored in the top 1% on both the SAT and the ACT and achieved National Merit Finalist status. With extensive experience tutoring and teaching, Shefali has a proven track record of helping students excel academically. Her personalized teaching methods ensure that each student reaches their full potential, making complex concepts understandable and enjoyable. She is located in the Central time zone, and is available during most mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Taylor Trautwein is currently attending the University of California Irvine pursuing a Bachelor of Science on a pre-law track. She plans on graduating within three years due to the credit received from passing eleven AP and seven IB exams. Following undergraduate school, she plans to achieve her paralegal certification from UCI and eventually attend law school. In addition, she scored a 1530 on her SAT, placing her in the 99th percentile rank. Taylor has worked in many fields academically and is even a published poet. She has also won awards in several fields at the state and district levels in competitions such as National History Day and the Mu Alpha Theta state convention. In her free time, Taylor enjoys figure skating, skiing, reading, and spending time with her sorority sisters. She takes an empathetic approach to teaching: she aids the learning process while understanding that not all students learn at the same pace. Taylor takes an approach with students that places them on her level, forming a more peer-based relationship where any question can be asked to ensure the student’s success. Taylor mostly operates in the pacific standard time zone but occasionally moves to the eastern standard time zone when visiting family in her hometown of Tampa, Florida. She tries to be as flexible as possible with her availability and is primarily available every day at night and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during the day.

Ilia is a top 1% SAT scorer; he graduated Magna Cum Laude and has taught university- level subjects for English and Linguistics majors, as well as SAT and ACT prep classes for high- school students. He has a PhD in Linguistics. Working part-time in a non-profit for a number of years, he has supervised research projects and worked on content creation. His passion is to see students master the subject they study and experience their “aha” moments.

Tristan McEneaney is attending Santa Fe College, where he majors in Mathematics. He scored in the ninety-ninth percentile on the SAT. He graduated from the Creative Writing program at his high school, and he maintains a love for English as well as math. He is a versatile, engaged instructor, and he believes strongly that patience is key to motivating students to perform their best. When not teaching, Tristan enjoys fantasy football and old BioWare games. Tristan is generally available weekday evenings and weekends.

Hello! My name is Olivia Owens and I have been instructing and tutoring at Prep Expert for over 3 years. I am originally from Champaign, Illinois and graduated at the top of my class as Valedictorian. I scored a 35 on the ACT twice, making me a 99th percentile scorer, and am a National Merit Scholar, which earned me a full-ride scholarship to the University of Alabama. I graduated Summa Cum Laude form the University of Alabama Spring of 2020 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. I currently live in Fort Worth, Texas and work as an engineer for a defense contractor. In my free time I love to watch college football and basketball, online shop, and learn dad jokes from my dad.

Rio Kuchlyan is attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, pursuing a double major in computer science and business thanks to the credit received from passing 13 different AP tests. He scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT. Having had over two years of tutoring experience, Rio is passionate about tutoring students while recognizing each student’s unique characteristics.
