Miguel Chavira attended UT Austin, where he earned a BS in Computer Science and a BA English as well as a TEFL Certificate. Miguel has accumulated five years of tutoring experience across a number of organizations, giving him insight into a wide variety of strategies and advice. He can tutor any of the following subjects: ACT, SAT, PSAT, (undergraduate & AP) Computer Science, (AP) Biology, AP Calculus (A, B, C), (AP) Macro & Micro Economics, (AP) English (Language & Literature), ESL, any high school math, (AP) Physics, Spanish 1 & 2, AP Statistics, and essay writing & composition. As for teaching style, Miguel encourages honest self-reflection and provides realistic feedback and goals, advising students towards more optimal methods but coaxing them toward taking charge of their learning and progress. Flexibility is also used in tutoring programs, via a willingness to share and look into multiple strategies and perspectives to match individual students' needs. Miguel loves to show students that he also makes mistakes and emphasizes the idea that we are all students in the learning process, allowing us the opportunity to be a little better each new week or even day. Outside of tutoring, Miguel's hobbies include video games, music production/appreciation, learning about neuroscience and psychology, hiking, and traveling abroad.
